Care & Clean

Like any other materials, silver will tarnish over time and it may become dull or discoloured. This is a natural chemical reaction of metal with the oxygen in the air. However, it is easy to protect your jewellery piece or object vessel and keep it looking as good as new with right surface treatment.

Caring for your jewellery and object vessel

  • Handle your jewellery piece and object vessel carefully as it is delicate.

  • When not wearing the jewellery piece, store it in a separate box or pouch to prevent tangling and scratching.

  • Keep the jewellery piece and object vessel dry and away from direct sunlight and humid conditions as this may cause tarnishing and discolouration.

  • Avoid contact with cosmetics, perfumes, hairspray, lotions and any other chemical liquids. Never spray directly onto a jewellery piece or object vessel.

  • Remove jewellery piece before shower or swimming.

General Cleaning

Immerse the silver item in a basin of warm soapy water for few minutes. Use a soft toothbrush and (if possible) dip some pumice powders to gently brush and remove dirt on the surface of silver item. Rinse the item under running warm water and dry with a soft cloth. Please ensure the cloth is clean and particle free overwise it may cause scratch on the surface of silver item. Please be more careful when clean a silver item with oxidised finish.

Thorough Cleaning

Silver Foam

This is a fast and simple to use paste and it normally comes in a pot with a soft sponge. Apply Silver Foam to the dampened sponge and work into a foam, then apply to the silver item. Rinse the item thoroughly under running warm water and dry with a soft cloth. Please ensure the cloth is clean and particle free overwise it may cause scratch on the surface of silver item.

Silver Dip

This is a much stronger and harsher chemical solution and it removes tarnish instantly. Immerse jewellery with dip basket in the solution for 5 – 10 seconds only. Use sponge for larger items. Rinse the item extremely thoroughly under running warm water and dry with a soft cloth. Please ensure the cloth is clean and particle free otherwise it may cause scratch on the surface of silver item.

Please do not use Silver Dip for any pieces with oxidised finish, as it may eventually remove the oxidised black colour on the surface of the item.

Oxidised Finish

Oxidised silver pieces should be cleaned with white spirit and a soft cloth or cotton wool. Re-waxing the oxidised surface with Renaissance Wax and a soft cloth or cotton wool. Waxing protects the oxidised finish from tarnishing and fingerprints, as well as gives an even dark colour of oxidised finish. A cotton bud can be used for small corners and areas. Please ensure the cloth is clean and particle free overwise it may cause scratch on the surface of silver item.

Please do not use Silver Dip for any pieces with oxidised finish, as it may eventually remove the oxidised black surface.

Restoring Matt Finish

Matt surfaces could be polished up over time. A piece of green scouring pad and warm soapy water can be used to restore the matt finish. Rub in a circular motion very gently. Always testing it out on a non-obvious place before rubbing entire work. Rinse the item under running warm water and dry with a soft cloth. Please ensure the cloth is clean and particle free overwise it may cause scratch on the surface of silver item.

Please do not rub a plated or oxidised surface as the original finish may be accidently ruined.

Silicone Rubber Care & Cleaning

Silicone rubber is more durable and stable than normal rubber, but it also needs attention in caring and cleaning. Please keep any piece consists silicone rubber parts away from heat and try not to stretch the rubber parts too much. For cleaning, just use normal wipes to clean gently and keep the surface dry as soon as the piece is cleaned.
